WATER BABIES

L'idée de réunir des chanteuses et chanteurs d'horizons différents autour de percussions est a priori inédite dans l'histoire du disque. Conçu et réalisé par le percussionniste d'origine brésilienne Silvano Michelino, Boca De Tambor est une suite de duos associant des chants dans différentes langues avec toute une variété de percussions. Des percussions allant des tabla aux tambours batà en passant par le djembé avec des chants en brésiliens bien sûr, mais aussi en créole de Guinée-Bissau, en japonais, en hébreux, en anglais, en tsonga d'Afrique du Sud... Le mariage percussions et voix est un plongeon dans l'essence même de la musique, proche des toutes premières expressions musicales de l'homme. Le choix des morceaux ainsi que les arrangements ont pris le parti pris de l'ouverture, s'éloignant délibérément du folklore pour une proposition novatrice et un résultat original et surtout de toute beauté.

Vind, c'est le vent en suédois. Un élément aux mille nuances, à la fois invisible, impalpable, parfois imperceptible mais qui peut à l'inverse être d'une rare violence. Vind, c'est aussi le nouveau trio de Loïs le Van. Sandrine Marchetti (piano), Paul Jarret (guitare) et Loïs le Van (voix) construisent leur folklore, un subtil mélange de diversité et d'ouverture : jazz, folk, pop, contemporain... Il y a comme une évidence mélodique, poétique, instinctive et audacieuse qui se dégage de leur complicité. Complicité aussi avec les mots de Laura Karst qui font fusionner poésie et musique. D'une même voix, Vind s'écoute et se raconte dans une histoire où chaque note et chaque silence trouvent un sens.

Sans doute l’album le plus célèbre du contrebassiste, compositeur et arrangeur américain. Enregistré en nonette (en 1957) à l’issue d’une escapade mexicaine à Tijuana, « Tijuana Moods » exhale l’essence des musiques afro et latino-américaines.

Repérée il y a deux ans de ce côté-ci du Rhin avec son bel album-hommage à Nina Simone, l'allemano-tanzanienne Lyambiko fait son retour discographique - et scénique - avec le splendide Something Like Reality. Hormis trois reprises (les standards jazz Work Song & Angel Eyes, une reprise du Crossroads de Tracy Chapman), tous les titres de l'album sont des originaux signés ou co-signés par les membres de son groupe de toujours. Ce répertoire taillé sur-mesure lui permet d'exprimer à merveille une belle richesse de registre : entre jazz et funk, sur des tonalités dramatiques ou plus légères, en simple formation chant-piano-basse-batterie ou soutenue par une section de cuivres très affutée, Lyambiko donne force et relief à chacuns des 13 titres qui composent ce bel album.

Après un premier album « A fraction of you » écoulé à plus de 30 000 exemplaires en France et à l'international (Allemagne, Japon, Suède...), Fredrika Stahl révèle avec ce second disque son inspiration dépassant les frontières musicales et géographiques.
