Mario Bellini (1935-) est formé en tant qu'architecte et est devenu l'un des principaux designers dans le style italien d'après-guerre. Ses meubles sont passionnants, tant dans son utilisation de la matière que dans l'originalité de ses créations.

Pour définir nous ajoutons 3 Gli Scacchi (les échecs), des sièges modulaires et mobiles et des tables basses, conçu en 1971 également par Bellini. Cette conception est devenue célèbre immédiatement après qu'il a été présenté dans l'exposition - Italie et le nouveau paysage domestique tenu dans le Musée MOMA en 1972

Ensemble de 2 canapés Bambole conçus par Mario Bellini pour B&B Italia.Version originale vintage de 1976 récemment retapée par le précédent propriétaire avec un tissu gris clair.Ce canapé confortable est encombrant et ludique, il a la forme d'un simple grand coussin et la sensation qui l'accompagne est la même.Le design de la série Bambole est l'aboutissement d'une recherche sur les meubles rembourrés. La pièce est réduite à l'idée archétypique d'un coussin. L'idée même de ce coussin est poussée très loin, car cette pièce est définie par la géométrie précise des points et des housses. L'ensemble de la collection Bambole est composé d'un canapé, d'un lit de jour, d'une chaise longue et d'un lit. Les premiers prototypes de cette collection étaient rembourrés avec un matériau qui était le précurseur de la mousse à mémoire de forme. Plus tard, afin d'améliorer le confort, on a retiré la structure métallique qui se trouvait à l'intérieur au début et qui était nécessaire au soutien, et on l'a remplie avec le rembourrage lui-même. Le Bambole a reçu le Compasso d'Oro en 1979.

The piece is reduced to an archetypical idea of a cushion. The whole idea of this cushion is taken very far, as this piece is defined by the precise geometry of stitches and covers. The whole Bambole collection compromised a sofa, daybed, chaise longue, and bed. The first prototypes of this collection were stuffed with a material that was the forerunner of memory foam. Later, in order to improve comfort, the metal frame that was inside in the beginning, and that was required for support, was removed and it was filled with the stuffing itself. Le Bambole was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1979.Born in Milan in 1935, Mario Bellini graduated in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic in 1959 and set up practice as an architect in the early sixties.His work ranges from urban design and architecture to furnishing and industrial products. Renowned as a designer, in 1963 he began his relationship with Olivetti in charge of industrial design, and went on to work with other companies both in Italy and abroad, amongst which Cassina. He won the Compasso d’Oro and other international awards more than once, and his work is exhibited in the MoMA collection in New York, which, in 1987, dedicated a personal retrospective exhibition to his work. Since the 1980s he has worked mainly in the field of architecture all over the world. His most well-known work includes the Portello buildings for the Milan Fair, the conference center of Villa Erba at Como, the extension of the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, and of the International Fair of Essen. From 1986 to 1991 he was director of the Domus magazine. In 1987, in continuing the work of his studio opened in the 1960s, he founded Mario Bellini Associates, of which he is the president, whose services run from master planning to architecture and the design of stands and sets for exhibitions and museums. In 1996 product and furniture design were transferred to the Bellini Atelier, which he founded with his son Claudio.A winning duo: a mix of independence and interaction.
