The Mooer GTRS Guitars Wing 800 Intelligent Guitar is a brilliantly innovative axe that seamlessly combines traditional sound with digital technology. The beating hart of the W800 is the active GTRS processor which serves up four tone presets that can be selected with the fitted super-knob and completely customised to taste. Add that to the eleven guitar sounds, 126 effects, drum machine, metronome, looper and other functions of the GTRS companion app, and you're looking at sound-sculpting options for days. What's more is that the Wing 800 comes complete with a gig bag and a USB-C cable. The Wing 800 Intelligent Guitar: Solid FoundationNeedless to say, all of that modern tech is useless if the basics aren't done right, which is why Mooer have opted for an ergonomically-contoured alder body. Not only that, the weight has been kept down to a more-than-manageable 2.7kg, but what also stands out is the multi-scale design where the scale length graduates from 25.2-inches at the sixth string to 25.5-inches at the first string. This results in lightly fanned frets, which only lift the playing comfort while a pair of specially-developed HM-2 humbuckers take care of rich tone - even when the GTRS processor is powered down.

Ludwig has been one of the most trusted and renowned drum makers for decades - they're also one of the oldest. While they certainly produce plenty of 'high-end' kits for professional drummers, they haven't forgotten about where it all begins. As such, the Accent Series is fully focused on the beginner drummer and, rather than just offering a set of drum shells so you have add on a separate pack of stands, cymbals and so on, Ludwig have been kind enough to compile a complete kit of five drum shells, two cymbals, a kick pedal, drum throne (also known as a stool), and all the stands and mounts you'll need to set everything up. All you need to bring is your set of sticks and a little dedication. The Ludwig Accent DriveThe core of this kit is the five drum shells. The largest is the bass drum, which is usually set up on its side and at the centre of the kit, and here measures 22-inches in diameter and 16-inches in depth. Since the bass drum is played with your feet, a kick pedal also comes included. Mounted on top of the bass drum is a set of two small toms which measure 10 by 8-inches and 12 by 8-inches. Standing on a set of legs and to one side of the bass drum, a 16 by 16-inch floor tom is also included and, if you're right handed, the floor tom is usually placed on your right - if you're left-handed, then you can simply move it over to the left. To finish, you get an all-important 14 by 6.5-inch snare drum. Hardware & CymbalsTo set up your kit, a complete pack of stands has been included that, in the drumming world, is usually referred to as your hardware, or hardware pack. Here, Ludwig have provided a snare drum stand, a kick pedal for the bass drum, two tom holders to mount the two toms to the top of the bass drum, as well as three floor tom legs. An essential 14-inch hi-hat is also included alongside a 16-inch cymbal that can double as your crash and ride and, so you can securely set your cymbals up, you also get a pair of matching stands. To complete the picture, a stool (quite rightly referred to as a 'drum throne'), is also provided. As a great bonus, this starter pack also comes with the kind of Ludwig-grade quality that's built to last decades, and be built upon as you develop your skills.

Following up on the sought-after GH-SV, ESP LTD and the Exodus and Slayer master-guitarist serve up the more affordable V-style Gary Holt Signature GH-SV-200. The three-piece mahogany neck has been bound to the mahogany body via a bolt-on joint and topped with a tasteful roasted jatoba fretboard that's finished with pearloid split-block inlay position markers to complete a classic, resonant, stable and sustain rich build, while the ultra-flat 13.78 inch fretboard radius and twenty-two extra-jumbo stainless steel frets complete the near-effortless playability. The ESP LTD GH-SV-200: A Lesson in ViolenceEvery piece of hardware has been dipped in black, from the Floyd Rose 1000 locking tremolo bridge to the locking nut, which don't just look undeniable cool but, teamed up with the pack of six LTD closed oil-bed machine heads, support expressive bends and vibrato tricks without dropping tune. Formidable power and tight definition is spooned out by a set of direct-mount high-output ESP LH-301 humbuckers, guaranteeing tonal clarity, balanced trebles and basses and superior articulation, even at high levels of gain and distortion and, as an extra-flexible final touch, the neck pickup can be coil-split via a push/pull volume pot to change up the output with some single-coil sparkle. In short: you're looking at a more than worthy axe that compromises on nothing.

A must-have for any purist, the Warm Audio WA-MPX preamp proves that there's no need to remortgage the house to gain access to sweet, valve-coated sound. This unit has been based on the classic AMPEX 351 tape valve amplifier that, in the fifties and sixties, was famously teamed up with a tape machine designed by none-other-than Les Paul to provide a neat route to high-quality audio in the professional recording studios of the time. And the rest, as they say, is history. To get a taste of this preamp's achievements, you need only look at the work of names like Les Paul, Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and Roy Orbinson, but even big-hitters like nineties alt-rock producer Steve Albini are still massive AMPEX 351 devotees. An Authentic 531-Style Valve Microphone Preamp The preamp section of the Warm Audio WA-MPX has been equipped with three valves that have been paired with custom-made CineMag transformers. This combo is exactly what delivers the unmistakable analogue quality of sound that you just can't quite get with a plugin or digital emulation. The setup also does a lot for the dynamic range, so quieter instruments and audio sources like ribbon microphones are given a natural boost by the clean signal path, while louder instruments can be flavoured with some hefty drive and richly saturated distortion. The analogue components apply a natural compression and saturation that's akin to tape units running at 15 IPS, and to round everything off, this unit provides both low-pass and hi-pass filters to shave off the more excessive higher and lower frequencies. Every model has been extensively tested by hand before it can leave the Warm Audio lab, so you're assured of ultra-reliable performance and excellent valve-driven preamplification, just at a fraction of the price of a vintage original.

Often considered a deluxe version of the Gibson 335, the Sheraton thinline arch-top is one of Epiphone's enduring legends. Among others, this irresistibly handsome semi-acoustic guitar has been played by the blues master himself: Mr. John Lee Hooker and, as well as blues, has voiced an array of music genres, all the way from soul to classic rock. Setting this model apart from their more standard semi-acoustics, Epiphone have finished the Sheraton in sumptuous, traditional style - complete with gilded hardware. The Epiphone Original Collection Sheraton: High-Def Double-Coil Sound Besides a classic and familiar Frequensator Split Trapeze tailpiece, this Original Collection edition of the Sheraton features a stable LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and a set of six Wilkinson machine heads. The slightly thinner-than-average body has also been loaded with two Epiphone-designed ProBucker mini-humbuckers which, combined with the three-way switch, two volume pots and two tone pots, wield a stunning spectrum of lightly biting dual-coil sounds. Meanwhile, the laminated maple body and set-in mahogany neck lay down a tight and defined foundation with a fast attack and softly rounded trebles.

Rein in this throwback dream-team via the fitted three-way selector switch and single volume and tone pots before engaging the push/pull function of the volume pot to split both pickups down the middle and unleash single-coil-style voicing. A Jackson figurehead since the start of his career, thrash-metal veteran and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian slaps his signature on the fearsome Jackson King V. The razor-sharp body has been carved out of a slab of nyatoh, which has a similar tonal quality to mahogany and combines with the neck-through construction to increase the sustain and support direct, in-your-face sound from the foundation up. Keeping the aesthetics in check, the rosewood fretboard has been fully decked out with a set of pearloid block inlays, replacing the classic Jackson sharkfins, while the light feel of the twenty-two jumbo frets is fully supported by the 24.75 inch scale length and compound 12 inch to 16 inch fretboard radius. Jackson High-Output Pickups for Monster-Grade Sound The two Jackson High-Output humbuckers planted on the body ensure focussed basses and the necessary definition to spit ultra-tight riff work. Combine or flip between the two pups via the three-way toggle switch to scroll through an array of monster-grade tonal profiles, all while backed up by the unshakable tuning stability supplied by the Floyd Rose Special bridge.
